Creating art with food is fun and simple, and is an easy way to get rid of fruit you don't want, or just make eating it more enjoyable. To learn how to make art out of fruits and vegetables in your household, read on.
Steps
1
Find your fruit or vegetable. You may have a garden and grow some wacky-looking vegetable, or see something that catches your eye at the grocery store. Try to find something that already has character.
2
Carefully use a paring knife to carve out any features.
3
If you want to add eyes, carve small holes for seed, pea, or bean eyes (black-eye peas make especially good eyes)
Are you a preteen or teenager? Are you dating
and have no idea on where to go for a date? If you said yes to the
questions above, you are at the right place. Use this guide to help you.
Things You'll Need
Money. The amount depends on the date, so plan ahead and make sure you have enough. Coming up short is very embarrassing.
Steps
1
Know some of the things your partner likes. What kind of food does he/she like to eat? Is he/she into sports? If so, which ones?
Introduce them to your favorite activities. If you want you could
share something that you really like with your date. Make sure that it's
something they can enjoy the first time though and that you help with
it.
2
Find a specific place your partner likes, such as a restaurant, near your area. Doing so will satisfy your partner, without traveling far.
3
Ask your crush what time and day they think would be the best for your date.
4
Make sure both of your parents know about your date. Tell them where are you going, when will you get there, and what time you will be back.
5
If neither you nor your
partner has a driver's license, arrange for a parent or an older sibling
to drive the two of you to your destination.
6
Be prepared to bring an appropriate amount of money. If you are the one that asked the person out, then you are expected to pay. However, some couples may prefer to split the cost.
Tips
Ask your date's friends for suggestions. Unless you were friends
before you started dating, your date's friends will know more than you
do.
Combine the flour and salt, then cut the shortening/lard in until the pieces are the size of coarse crumbs.
3
Add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, while tossing, until the dough stops clinging to the side of the bowl. Add 1 or 2 more teaspoons of water if necessary.
4
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface into a flattened round. Roll into a circle that is about 2 inches larger than the upside-down pie plate (9 x 1 1/4 inches).
5
Ease the dough into the pie plate.
6
Trim the edge of the dough 1 inch past the rim of the pie plate. Fold the dough under, and flute.
7
Prick the bottom and sides of the dough with a fork.
Mix the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium (2 quart) saucepan. Gradually whisk in the milk.
2
Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens and boils, which will be about 6 minutes. Then, boil and stir for 1 minute.
3
Stir about half of this mixture with the egg yolks, then stir it back into the rest of the mixture in the saucepan. Boil and stir for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
4
Stir in the butter and vanilla.
5
Put the sliced bananas at the bottom of the pie shell, then pour the mixture in.
6
Refrigerate until set, or about 2 hours.
7
Serve topped with whipped cream, and a few banana slices, if desired.
Tips
You can also use a graham cracker crust instead of a baked pie crust; or, you can just buy a ready-made crust from the store.
Mix the whipping cream well, or people will get a mouthful of sugar.
